Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Analyst

Location : Dublin

Summary
Coordinates the Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and implementation processes for Northern Trust’s EMEA offices . Consults with individual areas to develop plans. Analyses, reviews, critiques, and tests implementation of plans with each functional area. Designated role in the Incident Response process in the event of a incident,. Presents BC/DR programs to clients and business unit management.

Major duties
1. Coordinates the BC and DR plan development process with each area in Northern Trust through interaction with managers and systems support.
2. Conducts studies to determine the required level of BC/DR intervention necessary for continuing Northern Trust’s operations.
3. Consults with individual areas, identifying needs, gathering information, and analysing data to assist in their development of BC/DR plans.
4. Analyses, reviews, critiques, and tests BC/DR plans and recommends changes to plans as appropriate.
5. Consults with corporate systems to ensure appropriate back up systems are in place and have been tested to meet established recovery timeframes.
6. Coordinates the testing of Northern Trust’s overall BC/DR plan.
7. Designated role in the Incident Response process, minimising the impact of expected and unexpected events.
8. Presents Northern Trust’s BC/DR process to clients to assure them their needs will be met during an incident.
9. Creates and revises guidelines, instructions, surveys, and forms for the BC/DR process.
10. Interacts with all levels throughout the organisation to present the BC/DR program and process and to ensure that workable plans are created.
11. Prepares management reports regarding individual plans and overall plan status as necessary.
12. Maintains awareness of current legal/compliance requirements for BC/DR plans and standards. Interprets and applies principles to maintain compliance.

Knowledge / skills
Knowledge of BC/DR planning usually acquired through related experience to coordinate the planning and recovery processes. Knowledge of requirements for financial institutions regarding plan documentation to ensure plan compliance. Negotiation and organisational skills for plan development and implementation. Personal computer skills for monitoring plan statuses and management reporting.
